Starting & Shutting Down Whonix

Proper startup and shutdown procedures ensure your anonymity is maintained.

Starting Whonix

1. Start the Whonix-Gateway VM.
2. Wait for it to fully boot and show the Tor status.
3. Start the Whonix-Workstation VM.
4. Log in and open the Tor Browser.

Shutting Down

1. Close all applications in the Workstation.
2. Shut down the Workstation VM.
3. Shut down the Gateway VM.
