Installing Whonix

Whonix is installed as a virtual machine. You need VirtualBox or KVM.

Installation Steps

  1. Download the Whonix images from the official website.
  2. Verify the PGP signatures.
  3. Import the OVA file into VirtualBox or use the KVM images.
  4. Start the Gateway first, then the Workstation.
  5. Follow the initial setup wizard.

System Requirements

  • VirtualBox or KVM with hardware virtualization support.
  • At least 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended).
  • 20 GB free disk space.
Tip: For better performance, allocate more RAM and CPU cores to the VMs.
