Fake support chats after downtime
July 2, 2026
Outage windows are social-engineering season. Accounts pretending to be market staff appear on Telegram, Discord, and forum DMs with the same script: the market is migrating, send coins to a “temporary” wallet, or share a screenshot of your seed “for recovery.”
Tells
- Urgency and countdown language
- Requests for seeds, private keys, or remote desktop
- New deposit addresses delivered only in chat
- Unsolicited contact right after a mirror flap
Correct response
Do not reply with credentials or coins. Re-open a known onion from Verify .onion Links or the relevant service page. If the live market has a status post, read it there — not in a DM.
What real markets never need in chat
Your seed phrase. Your market password. A one-off wallet “to unlock escrow.” If someone asks, they are not staff.
